Mr. Reed Helton, 72, of Georgetown, passed away Friday afternoon, January 24, 2020 at the Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pineville.  He was the son of the late Artemus and Bessie Helton born on February 14, 1947 in Corbin.

Reed was a retired coal minter and of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed playing golf, horse shoes and sitting and talking with his buddies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta, Arvilla and Patsy and three brothers, Gorman, Ralph and Gary Helton.

Survivors include two children, Joy Murphy and fiancé, Stuart, of Barbourville and Cindy Burris and husband, Jimmy, of Caryville, TN; two sisters, Marcella Earls of Corbin and Drucilla Williams of Ohio; two brothers, Danny Helton of Georgetown and Earnest Helton of Barbourville; five grandchildren, Tyler and Peyton Murphy and Katelyn, Isabella and Ellie Burris; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Parks Helton Cemetery Monday, January 27 at 11 A.M.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Friends may call at the cemetery prior to the graveside service.
