Rev. James H. Warren Jr., lovingly known as Sun Granny, 78, of Jarvis, passed away Monday evening, November 20, 2023 at the Jackson Manor Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Annville.  He was the son of the late James Henry Warren Sr. and Allie Myrtle Robinson Warren born on May 1, 1945 in Knox County.

Jim was a former welder with Metal Products and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, dear hunting, carpentry and watching westerns.  He also loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play.  Jim faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

On May 25, 1990, he united in marriage with Dorothy May Privett, who preceded him in death.

Other family members to precede him in death include two sisters, Flossie Mincey and Delores “Cookie” Bray; brothers, Dave, Charlie, Ed, Russel and Carl Warren and a son-in-law, Michael Paul Smith.

Survivors include his children, Sonya and Sid Johnston and children of Hamilton, OH, Darla and Tim Bown and children, and James and Polly Warren all of Hamilton, OH, Samantha Smith of Girdler, Autumn and Ryan Hoskins of Harrogate, TN and a niece he raised as his own, Crystal and Richard Roach of Corbin; a brother, Dale Warren of Oxford, OH; a brother-in-law, Bub Bray of Kay Jay; grandchildren, Hailey Smith and Luke Hoskins; several nieces, nephews and other family members he held dear.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, November 28 at 3 P.M. with Joseph Messer and Rev. Lonnie Messer officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
