Mr. James S. Warren Sr., 79, of Eminence, passed away Saturday morning, January 13, 2024 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. He was the son of the late Elige and Tressie Payne Warren born on December 13, 1944 at Hinkle.
James was a former Ford Motor Company employee and believed in the Christian faith. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 862 and faithfully served his country in the United Stats Navy. James enjoyed carpentry, gardening and was an avid University Kentucky basketball fan.
On December 22, 1965, he united in marriage with Bertha Epperson and to this union four children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Susan Warren and Elijah and Mattie Payne; a son, James S. Warren Jr. and three brothers, Jay W. Warren, Arthur Nelson Warren and Gene Warren.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 58 years, Bertha Warren of Eminence; three dearly loved children, Kimberly A. Warren of Louisville, Sherry Smith and husband, Justin, of Frankfort and Gene Edward Warren and wife Sara, of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Sue Jackson and husband, Clifford, of Pendleton; brother, Lyle Dean Warren and wife, Pamela, of Pendleton; treasured grandchildren, Tiffany Ann, Chastity Raquel and Caleb Luke Heitzman, Nia Paige and Noah James Cole, Tylinne Avila and husband, Daniel, Kobe and Elijah Click and Kaya Warren; great grandchildren, Keeli Ann and Lydiyah Mae Webster, Nova Jane Greer, Emilio Isreal Edwin Hernandez, Jayceon Prince Taylor and Kenzey and Sofia Avila; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, January 18 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Herby Hoskins and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Warren Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Chad Warren, Shawn Warren, Daniel Avila, Kobe Click, Elijah Click, Noah Cole, Justin Smith and Mike Gregory. Serving as honorary bearers will be Earl Vaughn, Raymond Garland, Jim Payne and Clifford Jackson.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
