Mrs. Bertha Walters, 74, of Gray, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 26, 2024 at her home.  She was born June 3, 1950 in Knox County, the daughter of the late Dan and Hazel Foley Helton.

Bertha was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist faith.  She had a deep love for the simple things in life.  She found comfort in watching the animals that ran freely outside her home, finding peace and contentment in nature’s wonders. Her greatest joy was watching her great-grandchildren grow and learn and marveled at the new things they discovered.

On July 6, 1969, she united in marriage with Bobbie Ray Walters, who preceded her in death.

Other family members to precede her in death include a daughter, Teresa Walters; a sister, Lois Helton and a brother, Carlyle Foley.

Survivors include her cherished grandchildren, Alicia Adams of Gray and Brian Leath and wife, Brandy, of Corbin; treasured great-grandchildren, Rayah Miller, Lyra Leath, Chris Adams, Roselynn Leath and Brian Joshua Leath; Ivy Brown, who she loved as a granddaughter; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, December 1 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Leslie Broughton officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Foley Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Brian Leath, Doug Helton, Brian Leath, Johnny Walters, David Helton, Ivy Brown and Chris Adams.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
