Mrs. Opal Clark Tye, 92, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 16, 2021 at the Christian Health Center in Corbin.  She was the daughter of the late Richard and Mamie Clinton Clark born on March 21, 1928 in Cedartown, GA.

Opal was a long-time receptionist for Dr. Raymond Hayden and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville.  Opal was kind hearted, always greeted you with a smile and in younger years enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

On February 20, 1949, she united in marriage with Herman Mitchell Tye and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; a son, Donald Joshua Tye and a grandson, Kristofer Shad Quentmeyer.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Becky Quentmeyer and husband, Steve Quentmeyer, of Lewes, DE; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Tye of Barbourville; four grandchildren, Patrick Quentmeyer of Leesburg, VA, Tyeler Quentmeyer of San Francisco, CA, Brent Tye of Lexington and Joslyn Flynn of Stanford; five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gayle Tye of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery Monday, January 25 with Rev. James Laiben officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
