TYE, Charles Clifton – Courtesy Announcement
Charles Clifton Tye age 77, of Barbourville, Kentucky was born there on August 9, 1942. He was a son of the late William Burnside Tye and Gerald McFarland Tye. Charles passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at his home. He was a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church, was an accountant for G&M Oil Company for over 23 years and served four years in the United States Air Force.
On March 6, 1970 he was united in marriage to Deborah Dozier and to this union three beloved sons were born. Charles loved his family and grandchildren so much. He was a member and captain of the Barbourville Fire Department and was a big U.K. basketball and football fan.
He is survived by his dear wife, Deborah Dozier Tye of Barbourville; sons, Charles C. Tye Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Barbourville; Winston A. Tye and companion, Michelle Partin ,of Barbourville and Richard M. Tye of Barbourville; his ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his sisters; Jean Strong and husband, Jimmie, of Barbourville; his brothers, William “Bill” Tye and wife, Arawana, of Mount Sterling, Ohio; James “Jim” Tye and wife, Wilma, of Barbourville; sister-in-law, Shirley Tye of Barbouville; and brother-in-law, Doug Hendricks of Hendersonville, North Carolina; a special family friend, Stephanie Tye of Barbourville, along with his parents, William and Gerald “Granny” Tye, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Franklin Tye; his sisters, Sue Tye Johnson and her husband, Ervin “Slick” Johnson, Mary Tye Hendricks and George Ann Tye.
Funeral Services for Charles Clifton Tye will be conducted at the East Barbourville Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Smith and Michael Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with casket bearers Tyler Tye, Hunter Tye, Dakota Tye, Jerry Johnson, Mike Johnson, Johnny Tye, Steve Tye, Jonathan Vaughn, Johnathan Dozier and Adam Townsley. Honorary bearers will be all members of the Barbourville Fire Department and all employees of G&M Oil Company.
Friends will be received at the East Barbourville Baptist Church Friday evening between 5 and 9 P.M. and after 10 A.M. Saturday until the funeral hour at 2 P.M.
The Tye family have requested memorial contributions be made to the Barbourville Fire Department, P.O. Box 192, Barbourville, Kentucky 40906 in his memory.
