THORNTON, Brenda Sue (1948 – 2020)

Mrs. Brenda Sue Thornton, 71, of Barbourville, was born on November 18, 1948 to the late James and Marie Moore Hamilton.  She left this earth to her new home on Wednesday morning, January 1, 2020.

Brenda spent her life being a housewife, loving mother and grandmother.  She was always full of life and being with children was her happy place.  If you were to ask her what her key to life was, she would tell you love, family, laughter and coffee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Haskell Thornton and two sisters, Dovie Hamilton and Peggy Headley.

Brenda leaves behind to forever hold her memories, five children, Lisa Allsup, Anita Davis, Mitchell Mills and wife, Loria, Misty Davis and husband, Tim, and John J. Thornton; two brothers, James Mitchell Hamilton and wife, Annie, and Robert Moore and wife, Gina; a sister, Debbie Hamilton; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; among other loved ones and friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, January 5 at 2 P.M.  She will be laid to rest in the Ketchen Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be James Hamilton, Robert Moore, Joseph Allsup, Matthew Davis, Timothy Davis and Justin Hamilton.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
