Mrs. Florence Jeanetta Spencer, 94, of Barbourville, the widow of Beecher Spencer, passed away Friday afternoon, June 3, 2022 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Sherrill and Ruth Jones Reed born on May 9, 1928 in Harlan County.
Jeanetta was a homemaker for her family in addition to being a housekeeper for others and a former employee of the KCEOC. She was a member of the First Baptist Church on Church Street and enjoyed attending church, cooking and making crafts.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four children, Larry Spencer, Shirlene Moffit, Billy and Rex Spencer; siblings, Lydia Davis, Blanche Spencer, Vernon, Lowell, Fred, Theo and Sherrill Reed Jr., three grandchildren, Linda Moffit, Travis Spencer and Alexis Honeycutt and a daughter-in-law, Tanya Spencer.
Survivors include five children, Angela Lee of Texas, Geneva Griffin of Milwaukee, WI, Timothy Spencer of Barbourville, Jenette Croley of Corbin and Glenn Harris and wife, Stephanie, of Louisville; siblings, Lorraine Pennington and husband, John Ed, of Manchester, Jo Ella Davis of Barbourville, Leon Jim Davis and wife, Alberta, of Ohio, Kathy Reed of Barbourville, Vivian Smoot of Covington and Maxine Reid of Barbourville; 18 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, June 12 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Ray Dean, Rev. Pete Clark and Dr. Frank Hudson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rosenwald Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Coty Lee, Joshua Spencer, Brandon Smith, Earl Lawson and Adam Gray.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
