Mrs. Lula Smith, 86, of Gray, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2020 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Boone and Mary Smith born on June 9, 1933 at Woollum.

Lula was a former production operator and of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with family and friends.

On December 26, 1953, she united in marriage with Bert Smith and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Jabe, Daniel, Will and Curly.

Survivors include her husband, Bert Smith of Gray; two children, Randal Smith and wife, Shirley, of Augusta, and Alvin Smith and Cheryl Worley of Gray; three sisters, Marie Jordan of Cannon, Edna Branstutter of Barbourville and Louellen Townsley and husband, Rev. Clarence Ray, of Girldler; two brothers, J. L. Smith and wife, Marietta, and Walter Smith and wife, Catherine, all of Woollum; several nieces and nephews; caregiver, Debbie Smith of Gray; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, May 9 with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Clarence Ray Townsley officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Anderson Smith Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Bill Smith Jr., Harold Jordan, J. B. Smith, Tony Smith, Victor Jordan, Daniel Smith, Roger Smith and Gary Smith.  Honorary bearers will be her nieces and nephews.

A drive-thru visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday between 12:00 and 1:00 P.M.  For your safety, we ask that you remain in your vehicle.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
