Mr. Edgar J. “Joey” Smith, 71, of Georgetown, the husband of Joanna North Smith, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020. A native of Barbourville, he was the son of the late Eddie and Mabel Girdner Smith.
Retired from Toyota as a tool & die maker, he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and taking time to work with metal and wood. His favorite time, however, was time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, he is survived by his children, Stephanie (Denise Hodel) Smith of Georgetown, James (Danielle) Smith of Prospect, and Jessica (Jeffrey) True of Georgetown; brothers, Eddie B. (Brenda) Smith of Lexington and Westeray Thomas (Vivian) Smith of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Corey Smith of Lexington, Casey (Jennifer) Neal of Georgetown, Evelyn Smith and Madelyn Smith, both of Prospect, Isabella True and Witten True, both of Georgetown; great grandchildren, Jordin Sparks and Taylar Neal; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home in Georgetown Friday, October 9 at 3 P.M. A graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery Saturday, October 10 at 2 P.M.
Friends may call at Johnson’s Funeral Home Friday after 1 P.M. until the funeral hour. Locally, friends may call at the cemetery Saturday prior to the service time.
To abide by the current regulations, face coverings and social distancing requirements during the visitation and service will be enforced.
