Mr. Donnie Ray Smith, 65, of Jarvis, the widower of Stephanie Smith, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Gray.  He was the son of the late Ellis and Mary Sasser Smith born on June 2, 1959 at Jarvis.

Donnie was a former coal company equipment operator and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.  He was a passionate outdoorsman, who loved deer hunting, coon hunting and fishing. Donnie enjoyed working on and restoring old cars.  He especially loved his family.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Francis Smith and Joann Smith and brothers, Jerry Lee, Ellis Junior II and Clifford Smith.

Survivors include his loving children, Shannon Smith of Morehead, Misty Nicole Smith of Beattyville, Braden Smith of Clay Co., Jordan Smith of Burgin, Axle Ray Smith and E. J. Davis both of Barbourville; a sister, Betty Jean Jones and husband, Steve, of Florence; a brother, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Mary, of Cranes Nest; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Smith Cemetery Friday, July 19 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the cemetery Friday prior to the service.

Donations will be accepted at the funeral home, should you wish to help the family with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
