Ms. Phyllis Ann Shumate, 80, the widow of Donald Edward Shumate of Ball Ave., Corbin passed away on Thursday afternoon, September 16, 2021 at her residence.

She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Crystal Shumate Norman and Margaret Jewell Neal; a son, Buford Arliss Shumate and her parents, Fred Calvin Jones and Lola McCreary.

She was the mother of Donald Ray Shumate Sr. of Corbin and Glendall Clayton Shumate of Barbourville.  She was the sister of Junior Jones of Lily, Judy Jenkins, Thelma Jones and Wilma Alsip all of Corbin and Faye Burke of Woodbine. She was also blessed with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, September 21 at 2 P.M. with Bro. Roger Miller officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery at Faber.

Friends may call at the Laurel Funeral Home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
