RUSS, David M. (1954 – 2019)

Mr. David M. Russ, 65, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday evening, September 29, 2019 at Baptist Health Lexington.  He was the son of the late Edward and Neva Newman Russ born on April 20, 1954 in Barbourville.

David was a former truck driver with Patterson Chip Company and of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed fishing, boating and going to the lake.

On June 22, 1973, he united in marriage with Debra Smith and to this union two children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Dale, Jerry and Rick Russ.

Survivors include his loving wife, Debbie Russ of Barbourville; two children, Dayna Rogers and husband, Greg, and Cindy Hamilton all of Barbourville; a sister, Jeannie Bays and husband, Jerry, of Barbourville; a brother, Lonnie Russ and wife, Jennifer, of Artemus; three grandchildren, Brittany Adams and husband, Tyler, Kristen Hamilton and Amanda Rogers; three great grandchildren, Emma Claire Adams, Alora and Caleb Rogers; a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Tiffany Collins; sisters-in-law, Rhonda Russ of London, Tina Chafin and husband, Jimmy, and Sue Martin all of Barbourville; his best friend, Stanley “Hoot” Hembree; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, October 3 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Dennis Chesnut and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Stanley “Hoot” Hembree, Phillip Rice, Steve Valentine, Steven Chafin, Terry Mays, Dwayne Suttles, Paul Winchester and David Payne.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Baptist Health Lexington for the wonderful care David received.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
