Mr. James Robinson, 80, of Barbourville, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late Charlie F. and Nell Marie Sanders Robinson born March 5, 1946 in Knox County.
James was a former coal truck driver and attended Apple Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, riding around, watching television, and going out to eat with his daughter, Jamie, and granddaughter, Paige. Most of all, James cherished spending time with his friends and family and the many special moments they shared together.
On June 12, 1967, he united in marriage with Tama Kay Edwards who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Edward and Don Brewer, sister-in-law, Nola Sue Brewer and brother-in-law, Eugene Shelton.
Survivors include his loving daughter Jamie Kay Hensley of Barbourville; cherished granddaughter, Paige Hensley of Barbourville; sister, Joann Shelton Morris of Barbourville; sister-in-law, Anna Lee Brewer of Barbourville; nieces, Kim Moore and husband, Sam, and Michelle Scearse and Johnny Ray, of Harlan; nephews, Darrell Brewer and wife, Brisja and Ron Shelton and wife, Jessica; close friends, Chad Watson and Gene Morris; wonderful neighbors, Jennifer Sizemore, Jennifer Patterson and Wendell Smith; all of his great-nieces and nephews; among other relatives and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, September 12 at 1 P.M. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Serving as casket bearers will be Chad Watson, Travis Bruner, Roger Hensley, Coby Napier, Darrell Brewer, David Spivey and Ron Shelton. Honorary bearers are the men of Apple Grove Baptist Church, Gene Morris and David Burton.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. James West and the staff of the Barbourville ICU for the excellent care they provided James during his time in their care.
