Mrs. Marjorie Lee Rice, 91, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 25, 2020 at the Corbin Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Dona Wilson Lee born on June 13, 1928 at Lynch.

Marjorie was a former teacher’s aide at Barbourville Independent Schools, was a member of First Baptist Church of Barbourville for over 65 years and the Town and Country Homemakers.  She enjoyed traveling and cooking.

On December 1, 1948, she united in marriage with Evert C. “Shotgun” Rice

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Rice and a daughter-in-law, Jimmye Faye Rice.

Survivors include her loving son, Michael L. Rice of Barbourville; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Rice of Corbin; two grandchildren, Tanya Sawyer and husband, Rick, of Corbin and Tara Morgan and husband, Kevin, of Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Colten and Keegan; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, May 1 with Rev. Alan Dodson officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be John Bill Prichard, John David King, Tony Todd, Sam Watts, Samuel Watts, Dennis Jackson and Doyle Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the First Baptist Church of Barbourville, 201 N Main St., Barbourville, KY 40906 in her memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
