Joella Hammons Prince, 81, of Mount Washington, passed away Monday evening, April 27, 2026 at Inspirations of Mount Washington. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Esther Smith Hammons born December 11, 1944 in Knox County.

Joella worked as a deli and floral clerk with Kroger and was a devoted member of Brooks Baptist Church in Brooks, KY. She had a deep love for gospel music and was an avid fan of Elvis. Joella was the heart of every family gathering and never met a stranger. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

On October 26, 1963, she united in marriage with Roy Curtis Prince.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents-in-law, Bill and Ethel Prince; brothers, Dwaine and Ronnie Hammons; brothers-in-law, Ted and Harold Prince and Herbert Johnson and sisters-in-law, Norma Prince and Doris Johnson.

Survivors include her loving children, Brenton Prince and wife, Krista, of Crestwood and Brenda “Suzi” Weber and husband, Greg, of Brooks; sisters, Marva Davis and husband, Larry, of Barbourville; sisters-in-law, Pauline Hammons and Edith Prince, both of Barbourville and Etta Hammons of Gahanna, OH; cherished grandchildren, Gregory Weber and wife, Erika, Stewart Weber and wife, Heather, Grant Prince and wife, Elizabeth, and Josie Prince; step-grandchildren, Emma, Aubrey and Luke Crowell; great-grandchildren, Reid and Tripp Weber and Molly Prince; fur-baby Maggie; the staff and care givers of Inspirations of Mt. Washington; among other relatives and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, May 1 at 4 P.M. with Rev. Duke Hammons officiating. She will be laid to rest in the W.H. Smith Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 2 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Serving as casket bearers will be Gregory Weber, Stewart Weber, Grant Prince, Jeff Hammons, Darrell Hammons, Barry Hammons, Curtis Mills and Kevin Prince. Honorary bearers will be Robert Prince and Terry Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Bluegrass Care Navigators at www.bgcarenav.org/give, Crusade for Children or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
