PREWITT, James Edward (1942 – 2019)
Mr. James Edward Prewitt, 76, of Barbourville, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Friday morning, July 19, 2019 in Dardanelle, AR. He was the son of the late Herbert and Maven Renfro Prewitt born on August 29, 1942 in Highland Park, MI.
James was a former insurance salesman and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, watching baseball, cooking and volunteering at church. In earlier years he was very active in the Williamsburg Little League.
In 1970, he united in marriage with Linda Vanover and to this union a son was born. Later in 2000, he united in marriage with Betty Grubb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Prewitt of Barbourville; a son, Will Prewitt and wife, Stephanie of Dardanelle, AR; step-children, David Jackson and wife, Amy, of Barbourville and Donna Napier and husband, Freddie, of Cranes Nest; a granddaughter, Livvie Prewitt; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville Wednesday, July 24 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Bill Hughes and Rev. Michael Gibbons officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Casket bearers will be Chris Jackson, David Jackson, Loren Connell, Tony White and Jack Isbill. Honorary bearers will be Stan Lovett, Terry Stigall, Jimmy Chafin and Rev. Jimmy Lee.
Friends may call at the church Tuesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
