Mr. Bobby Jack Pickard, 89, of Gray, passed away Thursday morning, September 30, 2021 at his home.  He was the son of the late Riley and Verlie Pickard born on March 7, 1932 at Emanuel.

Bobby began his military career in the Kentucky Army National Guard and later joined the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Master Sergeant.  He was a member of the Apple Grove Baptist Church, American Legion and VFW.  He enjoyed reading, gardening, woodworking and delighted in watching the birds feed from his feeders.

On September 6, 1951, he united in marriage with Loretta West and to this union five children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Janet Smith; a son, David Allen Pickard; two sisters, Aileen Pickard and Linda Foley and a brother, William Pickard

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Loretta Pickard of Gray; three children, Doug Pickard and wife, Julie, of Mansfield, OH, Charles Pickard and wife, Kathy, and Joe Pickard and wife, Deana, all of Barbourville; 16 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; a cousin, Don Pickard and wife, June, of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, October 5 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Roy Anthony Vaughn officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Mayhew Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be Christopher Pickard, Robert Alexander, Dustin Ganoe, Chase Warden, Zach Pickard, Alex Patterson, Aaron Patterson and Casey Patterson.  Serving as honorary bearers will be Joshua Pickard and Tommy Pickard.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
