Mrs. Beulah Payne, 99, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday morning, October 15, 2023 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Deaton McCreary born on September 6, 1924 in Clay County.

Beulah was a former employee of the Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center and a member of the Apple Grove Baptist Church.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, working puzzles, tending flowers, especially roses, and cooking family dinners.

On February 10, 1944, she united in marriage with Johnnie H. Payne, who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Cooper; two sons, Tommy and Johnnie Payne; sisters, Ruby Henson and Marie Bunch and a brother, Thomas Junior McCreary.

Survivors include her loving children, Carl Payne, Earl C. Payne, Lonnie Payne, Bobby Ray Payne and wife, Ruby, and Christen Payne all of Barbourville and Sherrie L. Pickard of Westland, MI; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, October 20 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Paul Cooper officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Brock Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Derrick Payne, Roy Fox, Travis Payne, Benny Brooks, Daniel Maxwell and Gerald Salyer.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
