OELZE, Helen R. (1928 – 2019)

Mrs. Helen R. Oelze, 90, of Davis Bend, passed away Friday evening, July 5, 2019 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Ruby Georgia McKinzey Jones born on August 20, 1928 in Richmond, IN.

Helen was a homemaker and a member of the Parkway Baptist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel S. Oelze; a son, Dwain Coffey; a son-in-law, Gene Meeks; the father of her children, William D. Coffey; two brothers, Floyd Jones Jr. and John “Jackie” Jones and a great granddaughter, Noelle Ball.

Survivors include her three daughters, Linda Johnson and husband, Carl, of Grand Blanc, MI, Sandra Meeks of Davis Bend and Mary Mills of Barbourville; a son, Jackie Coffey and wife, Cleo, of Dalton, GA; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Coffey; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, July 9 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Paul Frederick officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Davis Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be David Johnson, Billy Meeks, Phillip Coffey, Taylor Johnson, Jacob Mitchell and Tristan Johnson.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Stargel and Sarah Mills for their excellent care.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
