Mrs. Viola Helen Brooks Mills, 93, of Winchester, formerly of Knox County, the widow of Shelby Vernon Brooks from Bell County and Lee Mills from Knox County, passed away Friday morning, April 24, 2020 at Telford Terrace in Richmond. She was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Virgie Lewellen Smith born on September 9, 1926 in Knox County.
Viola was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith. After birth and growing up in Knox County, she lived in Michigan for decades and later enjoyed living on her farm in Winchester.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Runyon Jones and a brother, Coolidge Smith.
She leaves behind a beloved daughter, Winifred Brooks of Winchester; two grandchildren, Sean M. Segler and Dewey Roy Segler, both of Winchester; a great grandson, Joshua Shelby Segler of Warren, MI; several nieces and nephews; both staff and residents from the Telford Terrace; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Following cremation, no services are planned. She will be laid to rest in the Croley Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
