MILLS, Shavon Ilena (1978 – 2019)
Ms. Shavon Ilena Mills, 41, of Barbourville, passed away Friday evening, October 4, 2019 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Kenneth T. and Jerry Hinkle Smith born on August 22, 1978 in Barbourville.
Shavon was a former manager with Franklin Assets and a member of the New Life Church of God. She enjoyed sports, especially the New England Patriots, being around people and most of all being Mom to her daughter, Emily.
On December 16, 2000, she united in marriage with Jason Mills.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie A. and Ilena Farmer Smith and Jim and Christine Allen Hinkle and three uncles, Byon McWilliams, Charles Garland and Shawney King.
Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Jerry Smith of Barbourville; her daughter, Emily Grace Mills of Barbourville; two sisters, Deborah Lee and husband, Terry, of Barbourville and Lena Sams and husband, Jerry, of Cannon; two nephews, Andrew Thomas Lee and Daniel Terry Lee; several aunts and uncles, Uneeda McWilliams, Martha Garland, Vivian and Johnny Messer, Wilma and Dan Kuhn, Eva and Joe Haban, Jimmy and Sandy Hinkle, Tommy Hinkle and Jowanna Dozier; her fiancé, Michael D. Brown; many cousins; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, October 9 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Phillip Wynn officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Charles Garland, Joseph Haban, Jared Hinkle, Jeremy Hinkle, Alex Peyton and Jaxon McWilliams. Serving as honorary bearers will be Jack McWilliams, Michael McWilliams, Bobby McWilliams, Dennis Messer, Tim Messer, Tony Messer, Anthony Haban, Jimmy Hinkle, Keith Smith, Vernon Farmer, Curtis Farmer, Glen Farmer, Jason Lee, Jamie Jackson, Denny Leddington, employees of Franklin Assets and doctors and nurses at the Saint Joseph Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
