Mrs. Norma Jean Mills, 82, of Woollum, passed away Sunday morning, December 19, 2021 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Georgia Ledford Garrison born on April 18, 1939 in Harlan.
Norma was a former American Greeting Card employee and a member of the Horn Branch Baptist Church. She loved working puzzles, word search puzzles, reading books and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
On May 8, 1954, she united in marriage with Claude Mills and to this union five children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; a daughter, Debbie Mills; a son, Bobby Mills; two sisters, Faye Clark and Shirley Bennett; a brother, Eddie Garrison and two great granddaughters, Ashley and Taylor McDonald.
Survivors include her dearly loved children, Brenda Taylor and husband, Lowell, of London, Janice Gregory and husband, Jabe, of Girdler and Lisa Smith and husband, Gary, of Woollum; two sisters, Effie Reynolds and husband, Ray, of Michigan and Sue Thompson and husband, Carl, of North Carolina; three brothers, J. D. Garrison and wife, Nettie, of Woollum, Vernon Garrison and wife, Teresa, and Wayne Garrison and wife, Lena, all of Barbourville; nine grandchildren, Doyle, Jennifer, Dewayne, Berneil, Dustin, Travis, Madison, Brittany and Carrie; 12 great grandchildren; son-in-law, E. J. Mills; special sister-in-law, Ethel Bell Mills; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Billy and Debbie Taylor, Renee Cook and Mike and Billie Bright; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, December 23 at 12 Noon with Rev. Johnny Shell and Rev. Rick Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Nan Riley Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Dewayne Smith, Berneil Mills, Travis Gregory, Dustin Mills, Doyle Taylor, Hunter McDonald, Roger McDonald and Brody Osborne. Honorary bearers will be her church family at the Horn Branch Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
