
Mr. James Dan “J.D.” Mills, 74, of Walker, passed away Saturday morning, September 6, 2025 at his home. He was the son of the late James and Aliene Smith Mills born on October 12, 1950 at Straight Creek.
James was a carpenter and handyman. He was the jack of all trades and could often be found in his garage working on small engines. He enjoyed going ginseng hunting and visiting yard sales. He also took pride in taking care of his lawn and landscaping. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Gail Mills of Walker; sons, James Dan “Junior” Mills and Talmadge “T.J.” Mills, both of Walker; special friends, Billy Ray Mills and Jim Stewart, among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, September 10 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Ken Merida officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Miranda Carnes Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be his family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 5 and 8 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
