Mr. Johnny D. Miller, 69, of Himyar, passed away Monday evening, April 18, 2022 at his home.  He was the son of the late John and Fannie Margaret Pillion Miller born on June 26, 1952 in Cincinnati, OH.

Johnny was a retired auto mechanics teacher from the Bell County Vocational School and of the Pentecostal faith.  He enjoyed fishing at the Brickyard ponds with his grandchildren, dirt track racing, rabbit hunting and mastering his craft working on cars and dearly loved spending time with family and friends.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

On July 16, 2010, he united in marriage with Kay Marsee in Barbourville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Fronia Chavies; a grandson, Lane Bowling, brothers-in-law, Duran Lundy, Orville Napier and Freddie Parker and a special aunt, Georgia Lee Mills.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kay Miller of Himyar; four children, Deana “Dwee” Towe and husband, Chris, of Gray, Amanda “Nick” Miller and fiancé, Bobby Shepherd, of Himyar, Whitney “Critter” Fugate and husband, Jesse, of Flat Lick and Christopher “Nub” Mills and wife, McKenzie, of Corbin; five sisters, Sharon Parker of Piedmont, SC, Janice Napier of Flat Lick, Carolyn Smith and husband, Lloyd, of Himyar, Christina Lundy of Barbourville and Virginia Philpot of Himyar; a brother, Stephen Miller of Himyar; eight treasured grandchildren, Michael “Lenard”, Layla “Rascal”, Ashley “Petrosky”, Landon “Bird”, Cameron “L. J.”, Gracelyn “Gladys”, Kinsley “Tooter” and Eleanor “Nubblet” expected to arrive soon; several nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Richard Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, April 24 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Charles Mosley and Lloyd Smith officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Farley Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be Josh Smith, Sonny Caldwell, Mark Napier, Luke Smith, Trevor Parker, Jesse Fugate and Bobby Shepherd.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
