Mrs. Della Mae Messer, 76, of Hinkle, passed away Friday afternoon, March 26, 2021 at her home. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Wagers Mills born on June 16, 1944 in Knox County.
Della was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She was a caregiver, loved serving others, gardening, tending flowers, cooking and making people happy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Arvil Rodney Messer; great grandson, Andrew Jackson; four brothers, Cleveland and wife, Lynn, Estil, Frank and Joe Mills and two brothers-in-law, Billy Eversole and Sonny Daniels.
Survivors include her loving husband, Arvil Messer of Hinkle; three beloved daughters, Martha Jordan and husband, Derrick, Cathy Bunch and husband, Dale, all of Hinkle and Debbie Jackson and husband, Larry, of Gray; two sisters, Jane Daniels and Gracie Eversole both of Hinkle; treasured grandchildren, Raven Engle and husband, Kyle, Adam Jackson, Christian Bunch and fiancé, Alexus Smith, Dalton Bunch and fiancé, Bry McCombs, Payton Jordan and Raymond Smith; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, March 30 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Owen Smith and Rev. Charles Eversole officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Messer Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be grandsons and nephews. Serving as honorary bearers will be Rodney Smith and the staff of Bluegrass Hospice Care.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
