McVEY, Christine Gray (1971 – 2019)

Mrs. Christine Gray McVey, 48, of Scalf, passed away Thursday morning, September 5, 2019 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was the daughter of Dianna Owens Gray and the late Virgil Gray born on June 18, 1971 in Knox County.

Christine was a former disability aide with the KCEOC, was of the Baptist faith and attended the Dewitt Baptist Church.  She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.  Christine was a servant minded person as she loved to help others when they were in need.

On November 8, 1991, she united in marriage with Randy McVey and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lynn McDonald.

Survivors include her loving husband, Randy McVey of Scalf; her mother, Dianna Gray of Scalf; two children, Casey and Dianna McVey, both of Scalf; a sister, Kim Patterson and husband, Jeff, of Barbourville; a brother, Michael Gray and wife, Melissa, of Woodbine; two nieces, Beth and Haley; two nephews, Lee and Michael; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, September 9 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Kennon Roark and Rev. Keith “Buster” Liford officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the McVey Cemetery at Green Road.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
