MCVEY, A. Y. (1959 – 2019)

Mr. A. Y. McVey, 60, of Hinkle, passed away Tuesday morning, September 10, 2019 at the home of his sister.  He was the son of Julia “Trixie” Merida McVey and the late Major McVey born on April 22, 1959 at Hinkle.

A. Y. was a former drywall contractor and of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed four-wheeling, being outdoors and was an avid sports fan.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine McVey and Loretta Smith and five brothers, Clarence, Dallas, Gary, Roger and Jay McVey.

Survivors include his mother, Julia “Trixie” McVey of Barbourville; two children, Allen and Renee McVey both of Indiana; five sisters, Wanda Faye Engle and husband, Renus, of Bimble, Sue Gray of Barbourville, Alice Taylor of Winchester, Joyce Mills and husband, Ronnie, of Hinkle and Catholeen Hinton of Barbourville; a brother, Hobert McVey and wife, Helen, of Cannon; two grandchildren, Maisy and Melody McVey; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, September 15 at 2 P.M. with Rev. E. C. Fields and Rev. Danny Hembree officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the McVey Cemetery at Hinkle.

Casket bearers will be his nephews.  Honorary bearers will be the staff of Bluegrass Hospice Care.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
