Mr. Donald Keith McKeehan, 88, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday evening, June 2, 2026 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  He was born September 16, 1937 in Knox County, the son of the late Norman and Kathleen Campbell McKeehan.

He was the former owner of Don’s Auto Parts in Barbourville, where he made many lifelong friends over the years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville where he was a member of the Fishermen’s Sunday School Class and served as both an usher and a trustee.  Don also enjoyed a good round of golf, collecting arrowheads, listening to country and gospel music and gardening.  For several years, he coached Little League Baseball.  Don faithfully served our country in the Army National Guard of Kentucky.

On June 8, 1963, he united in marriage with Joyce Owens and to this union three dearly loved children were born.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  His nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jessie McCloud and husband, Wayne, and Jackie Hubbard and husband, Randall; brother, Pat McKeehan; brother-in-law, Ray Owens and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charles Ed Crawford.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce McKeehan of Barbourville; children, Sherri McHargue and husband, Mark, Cindy Carter and husband, Tim, all of Barbourville and Casey McKeehan and wife, Michelle, of London; grandchildren, Ty Carter and wife, Lauren, Cole McHargue and wife, Josie, Tate Carter and wife, Katie, Cameron McHargue, Trey Carter and wife, Rachel, Conner McKeehan, Kara McKeehan, Kristen Maggard and husband, Keaston, and Josie McHargue; great grandchildren, Arella, Rian and Penelope McHargue; sisters-in-law, Kathy McKeehan and Glenda Owens; several nieces and nephews; among other beloved family members and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, June 10 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Shane Bingham and John Bill Prichard officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be his grandsons.  Serving as honorary bearers will be members of the Fishermen’s Sunday School Class.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Ty Carter, Dr. Richard Carter and John Bill Prichard. The family would also like to thank Don’s caregivers: Joyce Patterson, Mary Carmack, Donna Lankford and Debbie Wells.
