Mr. James Ernest Matlock, 52, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday evening, December 6, 2022 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of Ruby Rose Matlock and the late Ernest Matlock born on March 11, 1970 in Knox County.
James was a former laborer and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and loved shooting his gun.
On March 10, 2000, he united in marriage with Tonya Hubbard.
In addition to his dear mother, survivors include his loving wife, Tonya Matlock of Barbourville; sisters, Brenda Cox and Kenneth Baker of London, Teresa Riley of Barbourville and Yvonne Bowles and husband, Clarence, of Tyner; two brothers, Cecil Matlock and wife, Liz, of Barbourville and Carl Matlock of Rhinelander, WI; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, December 10 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Bobby Burchette officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Prichard Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Josh Matlock, Matthew Matlock, David Matlock, Clarence Bowles, Jacob Bowles and David Elliott.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
