MASON, Donald Ray (1942 – 2019)

Mr. Donald Ray Mason, 76, of Hinkle, passed away Sunday evening, May 5, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  He was the son of the late Huey and Della Mae Smallwood Mason born on May 19, 1942 in Bell County.

Ray was a former grocery store owner and operator and of the Pentecostal faith.  He enjoyed camping and boating.

On December 20, 1988, he united in marriage with Juanita Mills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Unice Mason, Mildred Hibbard, Myrtle Ward and June Gibson and two brothers, Kelly and Ledford Mason.

Survivors include his loving wife, Juanita Mason of Hinkle; two children, Tim Mason of Florida and Tony Mason of London; two step-children, Richard Mills of Ohio and Douglas Mills and wife, Maggie, of London; three sisters, Thelma Ruth Hush of Mt. Healthy, OH, Shirley Faye Dawson of Franklin, OH and Joann Jackson and husband, Wendell, of Heidrick; two step-grandchildren, Keisha Marie and Jonathan Mills; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, May 11 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Sylvester Dunn and Rev. Mickie Smith officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Moore Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be his nephews.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
