Mr. James Darrell Martin, 67, of Heidrick, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 7, 2021 at Baptist Health Corbin.  He was the son of the late Ed and Delia Johnson Martin born on February 8, 1954 in Barbourville.

James was a carpenter and a member of the Artemus First Baptist Church.  He enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting, spending time with family and friends and his most recent favorite past time was sitting on the front porch.

On June 29, 1979, he united in marriage with Helen Warren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gomez; two brothers, Malcolm and Willard Martin; a sister-in-law, Billie Martin and two brothers-in-law, Clyde Burnett and Paul Esakov.

Survivors include his loving wife, Helen Martin of Heidrick; his children, Amy Cobb and husband, Doug, of Barbourville and Kristie Barnes and husband, Stephen, of Cannon; sisters, Barbara Lois Burnett of Gray, Dora Mae Rosin and husband, Alford, of Mecosta, MI; a brother, Ed “Puny” Martin and wife, Mary, of Gray; a sister-in-law, Alta Martin of Keavy; grandchildren, Shelby Wilburn and husband, Zach, and Karly Cobb all of Barbourville and Chase Barnes of Cannon; a host of nieces and nephews; special family friends, Wayne, Cathy, Bradley and wife, Erin and Brandon Abner; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, October 13 at 4 P.M. with Rev. Jared Styles officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Trace Branch Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Justin Hammons, Zach Wilburn, Brandon Abner, Jacob Hammons, Bradley Abner and Wayne Abner.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Baptist Health Corbin for the excellent care given to James.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
