Mr. Howard Jones, 89, of Swan Lake, passed away Sunday morning, July 30, 2023 at Baptist Health Corbin.  He was the son of the late Robert R. and Mary N. Partin Jones born on September 19, 1933 at Swan Lake.

Howard was a farmer who enjoyed his time hunting, fishing and farming.  He most loved time with his family.  As a young man, he faithfully served in the United States Army attaining the rank of corporal.

On December 21, 1957, he united in marriage with Josephine Fletcher and to this union two children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; a sister, Irene Jones Hammons and two brothers, Joe R. Jones and Junior “Dee” Jones.

Survivors include his loving sons, Lowell Thomas Jones and wife, Betsy, of Flat Lick and Robert Wayne Jones and wife, B. J., of Wallins Creek; four sisters, Ruby Andrews of Franklin, TN, Grace Fultz and husband, Danny, and Mayme R. Holland all of Barbourville and Mary Alice Siler and husband, Roy, of Williamsburg; two brothers, Earl Jones and wife, Bonnie, of Hinkle and Clifton “Jim” Jones and wife, Alice, of Gray; four grandchildren, Samantha Tedders and husband, Jonathan, Joseph W. Jones and wife, Elizabeth, Grant Jones and Jared Jones; seven great grandchildren, Breyden, Deagan, Colton, Piper, Aiden, Aiden and Abel; three great-great grandchildren, Parker, Hadley and Kollyns; special friends, June and Teresa Sharp; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, August 5 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Darrel Bargo officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Vaughn-McNeil Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be Joseph Jones, Grant Jones, Breyden Tedders, Brayden Gilliam, Tyler Gilliam, Tyler Crawford, Dee Israel and Jeff Smith.  Honorary bearers will be Jonathan Tedders, Patrick Jones, Dylan Jones and Jeff Dierken.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
