JENKINS, Janice Jo (1954 – 2019)
Ms. Janice Jo Jenkins, 65, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, June 25, 2019 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Hazel Lawson Abner born on January 20, 1954 at Woollum.
Janice was a former seamstress with Warner’s and was baptized in the Baptist faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with the other residents at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Ada Sue and John Hendrix and Lydia Pearl and Kenneth Jarvis; a brother, William “Bill” Abner and a brother-in-law, Benny Hendrix.
Survivors include a daughter; two sisters, Bonnie Hendrix of Harlan and Judy Asher and husband, Robert, of Manchester; three brothers and their wives, Charles and Darlene Abner of Lily, Clyde and Phyllis Abner of Evarts and Carl Wayne and Audrey Abner of Barbourville; a sister-in-law, Carlene Abner of Woollum; two grandchildren; a special friend, Jay Bays; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, June 29 at 2 P.M. with Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb and Rev. Mickie Smith officiating.
She will be laid to rest in the Betty Frost Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jerry Wayne Abner, Daniel Asher, George Jarvis, Kenny Jarvis, Tommy Hendrix, Dennis Hendrix, Jake Abner and Devin Abner. Serving as honorary bearers will be the staff of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Barbourville ARH Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
