It is with great sadness that we announce that James Dwight “J. D.” Jackson, 71, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024 at his home. He was the son of the late Jimmy and Marie Jackson born to them on August 7, 1953 in Pineville.
After graduating high school, he served his country in the Armed Forces, spent 44 years as a devoted member of the Teamsters and was a life-long member of the Mooneyham Patterson Clan. His passion for family and togetherness will forever reside in our hearts and our “holler”.
In 1997, he was united in marriage to Rosalind Trentacoste. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and a good Cuban cigar. Nothing brought more joy to him than spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and the dogs. He loved his family and he loved the Lord. We rest assured that his entrance into Heaven was a greater blessing than he ever imagined.
J. D. is survived by his loving wife, Rosalind Jackson of St. Clair Shores, MI; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Michelle Jackson of Bimble; daughter and son-in-law, Mia and Michael Harlow of St. Clair Shores, MI; grandchildren, Karlie Jackson, Caiden Jackson, Nicole Gumm, and Donovan Gumm; a great-granddaughter, Ella Rayne Smith; siblings, Rita Wilson of Bimble, Sheila and Charles Lee of Bimble and Larry Jackson of Hamilton, OH and an entire clan of family and friends that he loved dearly.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, September 22 at 1 P.M. with his nephew, Terry Lee and brother-in-law, Charles Lee officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mooneyham Family Cemetery with military funeral honors.
Casket bearers will be his nephews, Kelly Tomblin, Brad Jackson and Jason Lee; son-in-law, Michael Harlow; grandson, Donovan Gumm and family friend, Adam Mills.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
Send a condolence to the family of JAMES D. JACKSON.
