Mr. Rodney Ray Hughes, 40, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday evening, September 4, 2021 at his home.  He was the son of Dora Rachelle Bledsoe Hughes and the late Kenneth Ray Hughes II born on April 14, 1981 in Barbourville.

Rodney was a former welder, a member of the Free Mission Holiness Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He united in marriage with Sonya Ramey and to this union three children were born.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Elandon Hughes.

Survivors include his loving mother, Dora Hughes of Barbourville; three beloved children, Madalyn Hughes, Rodney Ray Hughes Jr. and Lily Ann Hughes all of Barbourville; two sisters, Sonoma Carton of Barbourville and Nicole Carton of Dayton, OH; two brothers, Jason Hughes of Louisville and Travis Hughes and wife, Rachell, of Logan, WV; a special cousin he loved as a brother, Brandon Hughes of Corbin; several aunts and uncles; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Hughes Cemetery Friday, September 10 at 2 P.M. with Rev. David Johnson officiating.

Casket bearers will be Julius Blalock, Tyrone Blalock, Cleadous Bledsoe, Tony Bledsoe, Randy Clark and Jeff Clark.  Honorary bearers will be Derrick Harris, Jared Garner, Brandon Marcum, Brandon Hughes and David Cyrus.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday after 12 Noon until 1:30 P.M. at which time the procession will leave for the cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
