Mr. Elandon D. Hughes, 63, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from injuries he sustained in a farming accident.  He was the son of the late Kenneth Ray Hughes Sr. and Charline Dorsey Hughes born on August 24, 1957 in Barbourville.

Elandon was a carpenter and a member of the First Baptist Church – Church Street.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting and loved helping others.

On November 14, 2010, he united in marriage with Sandra Ann Mills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ethel Dorsey and a brother, Kenneth Ray Hughes II.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy Hughes of Artemus; a beloved son, Brandon Hughes of Corbin; five bonus children, Jordan Elswick and wife, Emily, of Big Rock, VA, Anderson Elswick and wife, Jasimine, of Grundy, VA, Brittney Elswick of Artemus, Casey Goins and husband, Harley, and Logan Hamilton all of Barbourville; two sisters, Diane York and Robert Jackson and Sharon White all of Barbourville; a brother, Carter Hughes and Teresa Brooks of Barbourville; nine cherished grandchildren, Madison, Mya, Brandon Jr., Zoey, Stella, Harrison, Ellison, Liam and Raylan; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Hughes Cemetery Tuesday, October 13 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Pete Clark officiating.

Casket bearers will be Harley Goins, Logan Hamilton and his nephews.  Honorary bearers will be Terry Miracle, Paul Baker, Randall Roach, Charlie Bays, Bo Alford, Charlie Never, Phyllis Watts, Billie Ferguson, Bobbie Messer, Edwin Smith, Peggy Wallace, Shirley Wallace and Mayme Wallace.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 1 and 2 P.M. and then family and friends will travel in procession to the cemetery for the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.

Please remember, during the continuing COVID-19 event, capacity restrictions and social distancing guidelines will be followed during all services including the wearing of face coverings as mandated by the Governor of Kentucky for the safety of our families, guests and staff.
