Mrs. Charline Dorsey Hughes, 89, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Ted Hipsher and Ethel Dorsey Morgan born on December 5, 1930 in Barbourville.

Charline was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church – Church Street where she was the Mother of the Church and the first woman Chairman of the Church.  Mrs. Hughes was Worthy Matron of the Excelsior Chapter No. 33 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Women of Vision.  She enjoyed fishing and cooking.

On May 2, 1952, she united in marriage with Kenneth Ray Hughes Sr. and to this union five children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Hughes Sr.; a son, Kenneth Ray Hughes II and sisters, Katherine White and Betty Dorsey Morgan.

Survivors include her children, Diane York and Robert Jackson, Sharon White, Elandon Hughes and Sandy Elswick and Carter Hughes and Teresa Brooks all of Barbourville; nine grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Hughes Cemetery with Rev. Pete Clark officiating Sunday, June 21 at 2 P.M.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons.

Friends may call at the cemetery prior to the service time.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
