Mr. Shelby Hubbard, 75, of Hinkle, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 28, 2021 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  He was the son of the late Sol and Elsie Mills Hubbard born on February 24, 1946 in Knox County.

Shelby was a former school bus driver for the Knox County Public Schools, a member of the Free Spirit Baptist Church and attended the Friendship Holiness Church.  He enjoyed listening to music, watching westerns and was an avid UK basketball fan.

On October 6, 1966, he united in marriage with Edith Hammons and to this union two children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Opal Carter, Cora Mae Hubbard, Glessie Ballard and Tressie Hudson and five brothers, Thurman, Earl, Glenn, Bradley C. and Lowell Hubbard.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Edith Hubbard of Hinkle; two sons, Gary Hubbard and Louise of Bimble and Steven Hubbard and Lisa of Barbourville; a cherished granddaughter, Ashley Hubbard; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, August 3 at 2 P.M. with Rev. David Rice and Rev. Charles Lee officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be nephews and friends.  Serving as honorary bearers will be the ICU staff at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
