HOPPER, Jody F. (1928 – 2019)
Mrs. Josephine Faulkner Hopper, lovingly known as Jody, 91, of Barbourville, peacefully passed away Monday morning, September 16, 2019 at her home. She was the daughter of Jesse Faulkner and Effie Smith Faulkner born on February 6, 1928 in Barbourville.
Jody was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville where she taught youth and adult Sunday school classes. She enjoyed reading, studying her Bible, watching and feeding birds and in earlier years enjoyed bowling with friends. Jody was a charter member of the Thomas Walker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
On July 26, 1949, she united in marriage with Walter C. Hopper Jr. and to this union three sons were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tub and a grandson, Walter C. Hopper IV.
Survivors include her three devoted boys, Walter C. Hopper III, David R. Hopper, whose love and care enabled her to remain in her home for the last years of her life, and Joseph W. Hopper and wife, Beth; three special granddaughters, Jobeth, Haleigh and Makenzi Hopper all of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, September 21 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Bill Hughes and Rev. Charles Douglas officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Bill Ed Hampton, Kent Wilson, Lewis Hopper, Tal Jones, Jim Gatliff and John Hauser.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Richard Carter, Dr. Raju Vora, Dr. Paul Pedersen, Dr. James West, George Hammons, the staff of Barbourville ARH Hospital, Knox County Home Health and Knox County EMS for the excellent care she received.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
