HENSON, Ruby McCreary (1926 – 2019)
Mrs. Ruby McCreary Henson, 92, of Barbourville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, September 20, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Deaton McCreary born on October 18, 1926 in Knox County.
Ruby was a former housekeeper at Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center and was a lifelong member of the Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening crocheting and loved animals. Ruby had a deep love for her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.
On January 21, 1946, she united in marriage with Roy Henson and to this union three children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roy “Junior” Henson; sisters, Marie McCreary Bunch and Thelma McCreary and a son-in-law, Fred Bays.
Survivors include three children, Elizabeth Ann Bargo and husband, Jimmy, of Heidrick, Katherine Marie Bays of Barbourville and James Edward Henson and wife, Judy, of Clarksville, TN; a sister, Beulah McCreary Payne of Barbourville; a brother, Thomas McCreary Jr. of Lily; six grandchildren, Tim and Loretta Bargo, Delone and Mike Trent, Mike and Pam Bargo, Chris and Melissa Bargo, Elesha Hope Henson-Robinson and Chris and Heather Overbey and Calvin Murphy; 15 great grandchildren, Nikki, Joey, Emily, Brandon, Jessica, Matt, Alex, Sarah, Robbie, Seth, Reese, Jalen, Kaleigh, Devin and Christian; seven great-great grandchildren, Gracie, Marley, Amy Kate, Aubrey, Brayden, Charles Robert and Keenan; several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Sue Carpenter; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, September 24 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Josh Smith and Tim Bargo officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Brock Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
