HEMBREE, Joe Lee (1932 – 2019)

Mr. Joe Lee Hembree, 87, of Trosper, the widower of Howardine Jones Hembree, passed away Saturday morning, August 24, 2019 at the Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrogate, TN.  He was the son of the late Laney and Nannie Ellen Hembree born on May 28, 1932 in Knox County.

Joe Lee was a former bus driver with the Knox County Board of Education and of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed riding horses and coon hunting.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Celia Ida Hamilton and two brothers, George Willie and Starlin Ray Hembree.

Survivors include two sisters, Beverly Myrick of Barbourville and Mary Hannah Johnson of Greasy Creek; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, August 27 at 2 P.M. with Rev. James Isom officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Tinsley Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care Joe Lee received during his time there.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
