
Mrs. Naomi Alene Harness, 92, of Himyar, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 18, 2023 at the Middlesboro Health and Rehabilitation Facility. She was the daughter of the late Levi and Minnie Tuttle Cox born May 5, 1931 in Pineville.
Naomi was a former caregiver and a member of the Barbourville Church of God for over 40 years. She enjoyed attending church, reading and shopping. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family who are now celebrating her wonderful life and her entry into Heaven.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Harness, sons, Lonnie and Sterling Harness; siblings, Elizabeth Cox, Juanita Duff and Sterling Cox and special friends, Geneva Mills and Irene and Marvin Gray.
Survivors include her loving children, Kathy Lee and husband, Nelson, of Balkan, Sherri Gray and husband, Bobby, of Corbin, and Rhonda Hobbs and husband, Cobie, of Bimble; sisters, Yvonne Howard and husband, Henry, of Clarksville, TN, Pat Johnson of Clarkston, MI, Carol Southerland of Callaway and Sharon Engle and husband, Don, of Balkan; brothers, Arlis Cox of London and Ronald Cox and wife, Elizabeth, of Lebanon, TN; six grandchildren, Reannon “Jodi” Gray and husband, Randy, Samuel Gray, David Gray, Katlin Wilder and husband, Preston, Darrin Sanders and Kaydence Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Isaac, Benjimin, Lily, Roman and Roger Daniel; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Clinton Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, November 21 at 7 P.M. with Rev. Sylvester Dunn and Rev. Phillip Wynn officiating.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 5 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Serving as casket bearers will be Bobby Gray, Cobie Hobbs, Samuel Gray, David Gray, David Brock, Michael Southerland and Cooper Brock.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery Wednesday, November 22 at 12 Noon.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 11:30 A.M. and go in procession to the cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
