Mrs. Thelma H. Hammons, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday morning, April 15, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  She was the daughter of the late James and Mary McDonald Hembree born on July 29, 1941 in Barbourville.

Thelma was a retired GE employee and attended Southeast Christian Church.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On February 11, 1960, she united in marriage with Luther Hammons in Barbourville and to this union two daughters were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther.

Survivors include two daughters, Reva Stamper and husband, Ricky, of Cox’s Creek and Olena Goff and husband, Jeffrey, of Shelbyville; a brother, Joe Dan “J. D.” Hembree of Corbin; eight grandchildren, Dana Willoughby, Shana Stamper, Holly Stamper, Emily Jones and husband, Jeff, Madison Jones, Nicholas Jones, Heather Lau and Hannah Goff; 16 great grandchildren, Brent, Sydney and Grant Powell, Christian Stamper, Elizabeth Stamper Milburn, Gabriel Stamper Milburn and Richard Stamper Milburn, David Stamper Webb, Austin, Nole, Daniel, Dale, Briella, Liam, Annalea and Julia; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, April 18 with Rev. Troy Boggs officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Hutchins Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be her family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
