Mrs. Mary A. Hammond, 78, of Saint Augustine, FL, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at UF Health Hospital. She was born on November 28, 1947, in Colmar, KY, in Bell County, the daughter of the late Rev. Commie D. and Mattie Epperson Dunn.

Mary was a believer of the Baptist faith. She retired from Walmart, where she worked as a cashier and truly enjoyed interacting with her customers. She deeply loved her family, cherished her pets, and was an enthusiastic UK fan. Though she made her home in Florida, she remained a proud Kentuckian at heart.

On May 19, 1973, she united in marriage with Lincoln L. Hammond, and to this union one daughter was born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her sister, Loretta Phipps Mills; and her brothers, Alvin, Bill, and Roger Dunn.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle (Nicki) Wright of Saint Augustine, FL; her sister, Kathi Dunn Baker and husband, Keith, of Statesville, NC; her brothers, Commie Dunn and wife, Mary, of Saint Augustine, FL, and Larry Dunn and wife, Patricia, of Columbus Grove, OH; sister-in-law, Bonnie Dunn of Cannon, KY, a step daughter, Melissa Wloschleger of Sellersburg, IN, step sons, Lincoln Hammond, Jr. (Bub) of Charleston, IN, Mark Wingman of Crestwood, KY, several grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary was laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick.
