
Mrs. Launa Smith Hale, 85, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday evening, June 1, 2021 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Davis and Edna Smith born on July 16, 1935 in Knox County.
Launa was a former employee of Tremco and of the Pentecostal faith. She was known to be an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking, traveling and camping.
On September 30, 1952, she united in marriage with Nelson Hale in Pineville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 68 years, Nelson Hale of Barbourville; two children, Sheila Miller and husband, Huston, and Finley Hale all of Barbourville; two brothers, Robert Smith of Utica, MI and Clandus Smith and wife, Mary, of Paris, TN; six grandchildren, Marendia, Serenia, Nikki, Sheletta, Misty and Shannon; fourteen great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, June 5 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Shannon Miller, Devin Miller, Jeff Merida, Shon Merida, Jamie Bays, Billy Howard, Cameron Hatfield and Jaden Hatfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
