
Mr. Kenneth Ray “Chicken” Grubb, 72, of Goodin Creek, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 17, 2024 at his home. He was born January 7, 1952 in Clay County, the son of the late Otto and Earmalee Bargo Grubb.
Kenneth was a former coal miner, truck driver and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks, especially Ford Rangers, mowing his yard and visiting flea markets and auctions.
On December 28, 1972, he united in marriage with Dora Louise McCreary.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Grubb; a grandson, Anthony Wayne Miracle; a sister Helen Grubb; sisters-in-law, Ruth Grubb and Jeanette Grubb; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Killion and a nephew, Donald “Ducky” Grubb.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Sizemore and husband, Shawn, of Bryants Store; former wife, Dora Louise Grubb, of New Tazewell, TN; brothers, David Joshua Grubb of Rockholds, Dennis Grubb and Stanley Grubb and wife, Barbara, all of Goodin Creek; a grandson, Charlie Remmington Hammons; Hunter Abshire, who he loved like a grandson; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, October 22 at 1 P.M. with Bro. Jamie Grubb and Rev. Ronnie Rose officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mays Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jamie Grubb, Jeremy Grubb, Shawn Sizemore, Jamie Messer, Jake Barnes and Hunter Abshire. Honorary bearers will be Tony Grubb, Stoney Grubb and Stacy Grubb.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
