
Mr. William Hanley “Bill” Gray, 80, of Flat Lick, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2026 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was born October 6, 1945 in Pineville, the son of the late William and Blanche Walker Gray.
Bill was a former firefighter with the US Forestry Service and a member of the Concord Baptist Church. He was a beekeeper for over 65 years, enjoyed gardening and loved bird watching from his front porch. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lowell Ellis “L. E.” Gray and James Edward Gray and a niece, Jamie Root Gilliam.
Survivors include his siblings, Colene Root and husband, Jimmy, and Carol Burgan all of London, Debra McKiddy of Las Vegas, NV and Nick Gray of Barbourville; a special cousin, Marty Gray of Flat Lick; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, February 17 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Terry Broughton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery at Flat Lick.
Casket bearers will be Marty Gray, Hairm Gray, Rickey West, Ron Garland, Nicholas Gray and Brad Root.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
