Mrs. Jessie Golden, 80, of Artemus, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 13, 2021 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mealie Mills Messer born on November 16, 1940 at Green Road.

Jessie was a homemaker and a member of the Kay Jay Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking delicious holiday meals that her family thoroughly enjoyed, going to Myrtle Beach and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On January 3, 1959, she united in marriage with Verlan Golden and to this union five children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Verlan; a grandson, Tony Todd Wilson; a son-in-law, Kevin Warren and sisters, Irene Gray, Evelene Swafford and Lizzie Swafford.

Survivors include her children, Verlan Golden Jr. and wife, Barbara, Verna Warren, Jimmy Buck Golden and Kathy Brown and husband, Greg, all of Artemus and Tony Golden and wife, Lesia, of Kay Jay; treasured grandchildren, Justin and Kody Warren, Crystal Prater, Joe, Jimmy Ray, Derek, Kenzie and Tyler Golden, Whitney Mills, Kesley and Raygen Golden and Hayle Collins; great grandchildren, Cadience, Journey, Jansen and Kason Warren, Makinlee Martin, Rayle, Jimberly and Devin Golden, Korey Garland, Bhode Prater, Oakley and Kennedee Mills, Conner, Cage and Kami-Jo Golden; a great-great grandchild, Kolson Golden; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, October 20 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Randy Johnson, Rev. Lonnie Collett and Tyler Collins officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Tinsley Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jimmy Ray Golden, Derek Golden, Tyler Golden, Justin Warren, Kody Warren, Tyler Collins, Devin Golden, Korey Golden and Joe Golden.  Serving as honorary bearers will be James Stevenson, Jimmy Miller, Jack Miller and Rick Jones.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Bluegrass Hospice Care and Knox County Home Health for their excellent care and support during her illness.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
