Mrs. Lana Sue Gambrel, 82, of Union, passed away Monday morning, December 8, 2025 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Juleda Wilder Browning born November 5, 1943 in Pineville.

Lana was a retired special education aide with Cincinnati Public Schools and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pineville. Known for her determination, she carried herself with pride and kept her home neat and welcoming. She enjoyed a good laugh, treasured a quiet moment with a book and never missed her favorite reality TV shows. Above all, Lana cherished the time she spent with her family, who were her world.

On January 21, 1966, she united in marriage with Bobby Gambrel in Cincinnati, OH and to this union two daughters were born.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby and siblings, Claudine Woody and Donald and Arnold Browning.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Michele Rump and husband, Joe, and Sheila Diane Sweeney all of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Raymond Browning of Pineville; cherished grandchildren, Morgan Lana Poynter and Kyle Sweeney; great-grandson, Dawson Ray Poynter; former son-in-law, Mike Grob; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A service will be held at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens mausoleum in Middlesboro Saturday, December 13 at 12:30 P.M. with Rev. Shane Bingham officiating.

Saturday, family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 11:30 A.M. to travel together to the cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Joe Rump, Mike Grob, Kyle Sweeney and Morgan Lana Poynter.
